In 2015 seaborne cargo throughput in the Port of Hamburg was 5,4 percent lower at 137,8 million tons. Hamburg as a universal port, maintained growth in bulk cargo throughput in 2015. In this important handling segment, total volume of 45,5 million tons represented growth of 5,8 percent on the previous year. In 2015 container handling at 8,8 million TEU (20-ft standard containers) did not reach the previous year's total, falling 9,3 percent and significantly lower.

About HY-5: the green hydrogen initiative from Northern Germany
The business development organisations from the five federal states of Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen and Schleswig-Holstein have joined forces to form the green hydrogen initiative HY-5.
