IIFT Delegation in Hamburg
From 03. February, 2020 to 07. February, 2020, the Hamburg Representation had the pleasure to welcome the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade from Delhi in Hamburg.
Initially, the 65 students received a warm and vivacious welcome at the Consulate General of India, and simultaneously got a chance to interact with the faces of the Hamburg Representation Mumbai. The candidates then got an opportunity to learn more about Hamburg-India business relations through a presentation held by Dr. Tiwari from the Technical University of Hamburg, a representative of the German Indian Round Table.
The second day commenced with a brief tour through the impressive building of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Dr. Doris Hillgerfor introducing the students of IIFT Delhi to Hamburg as a profound business location. After a lecture at HSBA and a company visit at Hapag Lloyd the day finally came to an end with welcome remarks by city representative Corinna Niensted at the Hamburg Town Hall, along with the introduction of the Head of India Desk Julie-Ann Shirashi into Hamburg-India relations and the annual India Week Hamburg.
Wednesday was solely dedicated to the maritime and costal sides of Hamburg. Axel Mattern, CEO Port of Hamburg Marketing, and Daniel Jahnfrom HPA Hamburg Port Authority granted the candidates some valuable insights into the operations and working cultures of their institutions.
Throughout the whole week, site visits to various relevant and linchpin Hamburg-based companies took place. The students visited representatives from Hapag-Lloyd, Airbus, HHLA, various port terminals as well as vessel coordination points in the port of Hamburg and thus got an impression of Hamburg’s vital logistics and aviation industry.Finally, the students got to know the beautiful sides of Hamburg during a city tour with a visit of Elbphilharmony and a boat cruise through the famous port of Hamburg.
