India Week Hamburg 2019
India Week Hamburg was a huge success for fostering the growing relations between Hamburg and India.
The eighth edition of “India Week Hamburg”, which celebrates and promotes the relationship between the Free and Hanseatic City and its partner country India, took place from 28thof October to 3rd of November 2019. The Senate Chancellery coordinates this biennial event in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media in Hamburg, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg Invest, the German-Indian Round Table (Hamburg Chapter, the Consulate General of the Republic of India for Hamburg and Northern Germany) as well as the Hamburg Representation Mumbai.
The purpose of the event is to display the multiple ties between Hamburg and India, strengthen existing partnerships and create new opportunities for cooperation. In 2019, the program comprised more than 76 events. This year’s “India Week Hamburg” had it´s off with the “Hamburg-India Business Day” at Hamburg Chamber of Commerce on 28th October, followed by the ceremonial opening in the town hall by the First Mayor of Hamburg, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, in a Senate reception. Keynote speaker and guest of honour was Günter Butschek, CEO of TATA Motors Ltd. The “Hamburg-India Business Day” is a full day conference on recent economic and political developments after the formation of the new federal government in India, combined with a range of breakout sessions on business-relevant issues including import/export, market entry and expansion strategies, tax & legal, sustainability, innovation and digitalisation.
